One Bold Woman

I am a bold woman.
I have bold ideals, and bold opinions.
I have been told I am brash and overbearing, but never considered either to be a negative thing.

Friends and family have been after me for years to make my often politically laced Facebook rants into a blog. The idea of a blog turned me off. Not because I have anything against bloggers, but because I am a flake. Frankly, all of the responsible and organized bones in my body have been dedicated to being a good mother to my children.

2012 not only brings and exciting election season into our home, but it also brings the first year that all three of my children will be in full-time school. Oh, and a pink slip from my company who closed their doors after being in business for three decades.

I used to be pro-life. Shocking as it may sound I wrote a disgusting propaganda filled essay my freshman year of high school. I didn't make my case and my English teacher awarded it my first failing grade ever. By my junior year of high school my sister was raped. Like thousands of women in America, and the New York City area, she never told. The boy got away, my sister got pregnant, and I got a new outlook on life.

Since my 17th year on this earth I have been pro-choice.

I have volunteered as a clinic escort.
I have worked on three Presidential campaigns.
I have volunteered my time educating young girls in various parts of the city on preventing unwanted pregnancy.
I have also birthed three children of my own.

I am a feminist married to a wonderful feminist man.
I am raising three feminist children.

I don't watch what I say, which is why I made the choice to keep my name off of my blog. While I may share this with friends or close family, I will not identify myself. This is for the safety of my children, my husband, and both of our careers.

I am The Pro-Choice Mom.
